Ivona MiniReader - free text to speech reader

East Lothian High schools have had an authority licence for the use of Read and Write Gold 8 which allows pupils to have additional literacy support (text to speech, predictive text, web research support). The recent move to Windows 7 operating systems meant that R & W Gold 8 was not compatible and the software upgrade was prohibitively expensive.

We are exploring the use of IVONA Minireader which is a free text to speech reader for webpages, documents and PDFs. If you would like to have it installed to trial with your pupils, please email the IT Service Desk (ITServiceDesk@eastlothian.gov.uk) or Shirley Lawson (slawson@eastlothian.gov.uk) to discuss this further.
